Modi is a negative character, a total disaster: Chandrababu Naidu at India Today South Conclave

ndhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is trying to cobble up an anti-BJP front ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election, today launched a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him a “negative character” who spoiled the Indian economy.

He also came down heavily on the Modi government calling it a “total disaster”.

Alleging that the nation felt cheated because of the Centre’s policies, he said the BJP was spoiling the nation.

Speaking on the second day of India Today Conclave South at Visakhapatnam today (December 22), Chandrababu Naidu said the state of economy and social indicators are proofs of the outcome of the government’s policies.

“Modi says he is very strong. But what has he done for the nation? The people are not getting proper sleep. The government’s initiatives such as Start Up India and Stand Up India are mere slogans.”

Naidu said, “Anybody is better than Modi. He is a negative character who spoiled the economy.”

The Andhra Pradesh chief minister sought to remind Modi about the promises he had made ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He said Modi came to power by accusing the UPA government and, therefore, there should have been some difference between the two governments.

“You have to improve. But what is the difference (between the two governments)?” he said.

Chandrababu Naidu accused the Modi government of misusing power by using central agencies such as the CBI, ED and Income-tax department. This was the biggest difference, he said.

The Modi government, he said, does not respect any democratic institutions. The agencies in Andhra Pradesh are better than the CBI, he claimed.

He accused the central agencies of threatening and blackmailing politicians and businessmen.

Chandrababu Naidu said Modi had promised to double the income of farmers. “But Modi has been a total disaster.”

He said atrocities are being committed SCs atrocities, Muslims are feeling threatened and media cannot report.

Chandrababu Naidu said initially he believed Modi and his slogans. But now not just he but the whole nation felt cheated because of Modi and the government he heads, he said.
