You might be surprised to hear the fashion world buzzing about the launch of a small NYC-based label today, but upon closer inspection, it all adds up. With Vogue vets Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster joining Molly Howard, formerly the head of business development at Rag & Bone, at the helm of La Ligne, success is already in the brand’s DNA.
Their expertise led them to found a collection rooted in timeless, quality pieces crafted in silk, cotton, and cashmere in a simplified color palette — mainly black, navy, and cream, with subtle accents. To boot, they’re out to deliver affordable, or moreaffordable, luxury. Cutting out traditional retailers and working directly with factories mainly in NYC means that quality is top of mind, but so is price. At the center of their mission is creating really wearable essentials that feel elegant, sophisticated, and just lightly infused with the trends. To that effect, they’re casting a wide net of pieces that would be at home in the closets of women of every age, though they’ve most notably already landed in celebrity wardrobes, including Allison Williams and Lily Aldridge in the pages of Vogue. Now, to the brand that playfully touts “we wanna be on you” as its slogan, we say, we want you, too.
