Editorial: Stop the insanity; fully fund public education

Old patterns keep repeating and it’s beyond silly at this point. State lawmakers refuse to meet their obligations to fully fund schools. Schools are forced to sue the state to get the money they are owed. Courts rule in favor of the schools. State hems, haws, throws a few dollars at the schools and offers empty words to make the courts happy. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. And all this time the only people who are happy about it are the lawyers, who have a nice, steady income at taxpayer expense….

Arts Council of Wales: Health budget should fund art therapies

Some arts activities should be funded from the Welsh Government’s health budget, according to the new chairman of the Arts Council of Wales. Phil George said the benefits of the arts to people’s well-being needed to be grasped by ministers. He said work was already being done in this area, but further investment would bring long-term health benefits. The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund elected its newest winners, Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock of Brock Collection, the recipients of $400,000 and a year of mentorship.
