China says it is “seriously concerned” after US President-elect Donald Trump expressed doubts about continuing to abide by the “One China” policy. China’s foreign ministry says it has lodged a complaint with the US after President-elect Donald Trump spoke to Taiwan’s leader in a phone call. China sees Taiwan as a breakaway province. Typhoon Meranti has landed in mainland China after battering Taiwan with its strongest storm in 21 years.
