NEW DELHI: Japanese tech giant Sony has launched two new cameras in different parts of the world. While the Cyber-shot RX100 Mark V compact camera has been launched in the US, the company has introduced the a6500 mirrorless camera in Europe.
Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark V is priced at $1,000 and will be available at authorized Sony dealers in the US. On the other hand, Sony a6500 interchangeable lens camera will be hitting the shelves in Europe in December. The camera is priced at about EUR 1,700 for the body only, while it costs EUR 2,800 with the SEL1670Z lens. Sony, however, has not yet mentioned any details about the India launch of the two cameras.
The Cyber-shot RX100 Mark V compact camera is claimed as having the world’s fastest autofocus speed (0.05 seconds), world’s most AF point range (315 points) and world’s fastest continuous shooting (24fps).
It sports a 20.1MP Exmor RS sensor, a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar large aperture lens and can shoot videos in 4K resolution. Slow motion video recording at 960 fps is also included. Sony says that the processing speed of the compact camera has been ‘greatly enhanced’ with the help of a LSI chip and the BIONZ X image processing engine. It has a minimum aperture of f/1.8 and its focal length ranges from 24mm to 70mm.
Having a pocket-size design, Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark V includes Wi-Fi and NFC as connectivity options. It suppports Sony PlayMemories camera apps as well.
On the other hand, the a6500 mirrorless camera can focus on a subject in 0.05 seconds using the 4D focus system, according to the company. It has 425 phase detection autofocus points and can shoot up to 11fps with continuous autofocus.
Like the RX100 Mark V, the a6500 too sports a new front-end LSI chip for faster response speeds. In addition, there is a 5-axis optical image stabilization for smoother and more stable video recording functionality. The camera has a 24.2MP Exmor CMOS Sensor with BIONZ X processing engine.
With an ISO range going up to 51200, the a6500 can shoot videos in 4K resolution.
Full HD videos can be recorded in 100fps as well. For those who love slow motion videos, the camera also has the option to use a ‘Slow and Quick’ mode. In this mode, frame rates ranging from 1fps to 100fps can be selected and the final footage can be seen after shooting it.
Sony a6500 camera flaunts a magnesium alloy body and a highly durable shutter. The overall design of the camera goes in line with previous models launched of the same series. It offers Wi-Fi and NFC as connectivity options. Sony’s PlayMemories camera apps are available too.
